Fiat Commercial Vehicles

Fiat DobloA Fiat van or truck probably won’t get the average Italian car lover’s heart racing like a Ferrari or Lambo, but the average Ferrari or Lambo won’t carry your tools around either…

We all know that Australia has changed over the last decade or so in terms of where the wealth comes from.  Once upon a time it was business and finance professionals who drove Ferraris, but now we’re seeing some very successful builders and tradies enter the fray.

So if you’re a high flying builder or tradesman who either drives a Ferrari or is simply a lover of Italian cars, are there any alternatives to the classic Hilux or other popular commercial vehicle?

The answer is yes!

Fiat, who of course ultimately own the Ferrari brand, have a range of commercial vehicle available to Aussie tradesmen.

Handyman & Tradesman

For the handyman Fiat have the Scudo.  The vans in this range are practicle and durable, but still with the Italian style that you won’t find in other vans.

Tradesman & Builder

For builders and tradesmen who need a bit more space there is the well known Ducato range.

The Ducato range is predominantly made up of vans, however there is also a cab chassis truck (or very large ute!) available.

Also coming soon to Australia could be the Fiat Doblo (pictured at the top of this article).  Arguably this is the best looking of the Fiat range, so hopefully it will make its way here.

Van or Ute?

Traditionally most Aussie tradesmen have gone with a ute over a van, however there are some definite benefits to switching to a large van.

Unfortunately there are growing number of people scum out there who are willing to steal tools and equipment from tradie’s utes.  Trade tools are easy to sell, and utes are notoriously insecure.

By switching to a van you can help to protect your tools, and by switching to a Fiat van you can do it in style!

You may not yet be able to afford an Italian thoroughbred such as a Ferrari or Lamborghini, but at least you can enjoy Italian style in your work vehicle.

Mark Webber Ferrari F1 Driver?

In news that should make plenty of Australian Ferrari lovers happy, rumours have been swirling around the internet that Mark Webber will be driving for Ferrari in 2013.

We must stress that these are just rumours, but according to a Spanish newspaper the deal is virtually done, with all that is remaining being Webber’s signature on the dotted line.

Mark Webber Ferrari

So what are the chances of Webber being the first Australian driver for our beloved Italian marque?

Certainly they haven’t been able to produce a car to match Webber’s existing Red Bull for the last few seasons, but the allure of finishing his career with Ferrari must be temping for Webber.

Bye Bye Massa

Of course if Mark Webber was to join Ferrari it means that Felipe Massa would be exiting the team.

Unfortunately this is no surprise, as Massa’s form has been far from good enough for a team of Ferrari’s calibre.  It is a sad situation, but unfortunately Massa appears to have lost his touch after the injury he sustained in 2009 at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Will it Happen?

Who knows really!  The Webber to Ferrari rumours have been around for years, but they certainly seem to have increased over the last few days

If Mark does find himself driving for the Prancing Horse it will certainly be a great day for all Australian Ferrari lovers.

Insurance for a Ferrari

Insurance for FerrariAs most Ferrari owners will attest to, finding insurance for your prancing horse is not the most enjoyable aspect of owning these cars.

If you have a questionable driving history, and especially if you are young, insuring your Ferrari can be a painful and VERY expensive experience!

Over the coming period we will be putting together a list of insurance companies who offer favourable terms for Ferrari owners.  We plan on splitting the list into each different model and detailing which insurers are best for different age brackets.

It won’t be an easy task, but it should help massively.

Some of the insurers offering Ferrari drivers insurance are only available through brokers, but we’ll still try to obtain information from these companies as well.

In the meantime, we’d suggest insuring your Ferrari through a specialist insurer who is more familiar with these cars and the types of people who drive them.

If you’re a business owner like most Ferrari drivers are, you’ll probably already have a good business insurance broker who will be able to assist you anyway.

If you have any good information or good experiences with different insurance companies please post them in the comments below or drop us a line here at Italian Car Lovers.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

So it’s not called the F620 GT like everyone was speculating, and instead it will be called the F12 Berlinetta.

Whatever the name is, the car is absolutely stunning!  Enjoy the pics…

It’s an absolutely stunning car.  Perhaps not the most beautiful Ferrari ever designed, but it is certainly a refreshing design that should age well over the years.

Who do we expect to be driving this new Ferrari model?  Given that most younger Ferrari owners go for the 458 Italia, we’d expect this one to be driven by the older owners.  This will probably mean business owners, doctors and other successful professionals.

Ferrari and all Italian car lovers will be drooling over this new model for many years.
